Tubal factor infertility accounts for about 20-25% of all cases of infertility. The treatment for tubal factor infertility is usually either tubal surgery to repair some of the damage or in vitro fertilization (IVF).
As IVF success rates have improved dramatically over the last 20 years. A patient who is unable to carry a pregnancy to term is sometimes found, on hysterosalpingogram, to have a septate form of double uterus.
In such cases, resection of the septum often corrects the problem and results in a successful pregnancy.
